Dr. Luc Antoine, PhD Geo
Luc Antoine is a professional geologist and geophysicist who has worked on the African continent in such countries as Algeria, Libya, Tanzania, Sudan, Mali, Mozambique, South Africa, Angola, Congo, Gabon, Mauritania, Senegal, Morocco and Botswana for over 20 years. His expertise is focused on exploration, data security and quality control, data acquisition, and on data interpretation. Dr. Antoine is co-founder and technical director of GeX Surveys, a company specializing in airborne geophysical data acquisition contracting services since 2006. He is also co-founder and technical director of Geoscientific Exploration Services, a company offering geological, geotechnical, remote sensing and geophysical consulting and contracting services since 1999. During his career, Dr. Antoine has been extensively involved in developing exploration programmes for leading mining and mineral companies including Anglo American Gold Corporation (1986 to 1987) and Anglo American Golds base metals operations (1980 to 1986), as well as Falconbridge Exploration (1973 and 1978 to 1979). He also taught exploration methodology at the University of the Witwatersrand from 1987 to 2002. A resident of South Africa, Dr. Antoine is an Associate Member of South African Geophysical Association (President 1993), a member of the Geological Society of South Africa, the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers, and the Society of Exploration Geophysicists.
Bruce Thorndycraft, M.Sc
Mr. Thorndycraft has metallurgical experience in bringing 94 heap-leach projects to fruition. In the past Bruce has worked for Atlanta Gold as a Vice President of Operations, as well as the General Manager of Atlanta Gold Corporation. He has also worked as the Chief Operating Officer of the Lluvia de Oro and La Jojoba gold mine at NWM Mining Corporation. Bruce has more than 35 years of experience in all aspects of heap leach operations, including open pit mining, process design, plant and pad construction, heap leaching, gold plant operations and metallurgical analysis.The scope of his experience spans gold projects in Central and South America, Nevada, USA and Canada where he was involved in the gold mining, gold milling and gold recovery processes, both from the design and operating side. Mr. Thorndycraft holds a BS in Chemical Engineering and a Masters in Metallurgical Engineering.
Mr. Janda became the Chief Executive Officer of Desert Gold in early 2016. His main responsibilities with the Company include project financing and project development for the Rwanda and Mali projects in Africa. Mr. Janda concurrently serves as General Manager of the Janda Group, a family owned business, developing various types of real estate assets including commercial, office, industrial, mixed-use, residential and agricultural. His experience ranges from operational, financial management, to business development for future investments. He also holds notable board positions on Lucky Minerals Inc., Mag One Products Inc., Grenville Gold Corp. and Acana Capital Corp. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Economics from Simon Fraser University.
Mr. Scharf served as Chief Financial Officer of Desert Gold from 2009 to 2016. In January 2017 he was appointed to the position of President. His background is in corporate finance and financial accounting. Over the last eight years Mr. Scharf held senior finance and accounting positions in the alternative energy, mining and technology sectors. From 2005 to 2009 Mr. Scharf held the position of senior associate for ITM Corporation, a Toronto-based asset management firm, where he worked with a variety of development companies ranging from Geothermal projects in Latin America to oil and gas projects in Eastern Europe. Mr. Scharf holds an Honours Commerce degree in Finance from the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa as well as a Bachelors of Administration also from the University of Ottawa.
